THE GREAT SOMERSET FLOOD
2013 it started to rain as autumn arrived. It kept raining for weeks and weeks until swathes of low lying Somerset became a lake! Villages, farms and animals were stranded, cars submerged and boats became taxies. This image of a lonely tree reaching out of the water, it’s branches outstretched like wings, trying to escape, symbolised the fight to survive the dark cold water… In the far distance Glastonbury rose out of the ‘ancient’ inland lake. These elements join together to form this watery scene of survival…
