CREATING PICTURES WITH PIXELS SINCE 1984

MY WORK: 1983-87 I studied graphic design, illustration and photography. In 1984 I was introduced to an ‘Apple’, not a fruit, but a small cream box! Oh, and a plastic mouse? My life changed! From that moment on my artwork has been created using the medium of the ‘computer’. Since 1987 I have been creating digital artwork for packaging, point-of-sale, presentations, book illustration, 3D modelling and creating digital images. In 1992 I started developing and creating my own style and ideas. After many years and the increase in computing power, I am now able to create this collection of limited edition canvases and framed prints. The only way to produce a physical copy of a digital file is to print it. A first generation image as a photograph from a negative or from the digital file from a digital camera. Each print is created from its original digital file I describe them as ‘Digital Originals’…

The work is a mix of abstracts, landscapes and townscapes. Dynamic graphic images full of colour, patterns and textures. I create them by hand directly via a mouse, I use ‘Illustrator’ and ‘Photoshop’. I also create what I describe as ‘Digital Sculptures’, these are 3D virtual models, created using 3d modelling software. They are created within a virtual environment where we simulate light using ‘Ray Tracing’. This balance of elements creates photorealistic 3D objects, basically I paint with light! The final models are rendered at very high resolution, creating large high definition images.

The final pictures are printed on Giclée canvas, which is stretched on handmade, kiln dried, laminated wooden frames. Creating a strong, stable, warp free canvas. The inks are lightfast and will not fade in natural light. All the images are available as limited edition Giclée canvas prints, most are available in 3 sizes. 25 large, 50 medium and 100 small. Each canvas is signed, numbered and finished with its Certificate of Authenticity. All framed prints are lightfast, printed on Archival quality paper and have either a mount effect or are mounted under an acid-free board, this should not discolour or fade in direct sunlight. The frames are made of quality wood or metal with sprung fixings giving a solid secure picture…

This collection of work is now available here, online. ‘Every print is personally created by me for you.’

There are many people, who without them, this work would not of happened, particularly the chaps from ‘Carnival Graphics’ in Bristol, who have created and developed the canvases, Many Thanks to: Paul, Mark and Richard for the decades of putting up with my ridiculous requests! And my family, especially my co-editors and ‘Critics’ Rhonda and my ever tolerant wife Vicky and our young apprentice Charlotte Lily Rose, and a BIG thanks to James Rhodes of ‘madebythose.com’ for creating this fab site!
THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL…
