THE EARLY RISERS (BRENT KNOLL)
Brent Knoll rises from the Somerset Levels, in Somerset, South West England. Brent Knoll has been a safe refuge for people since at least the Bronze Age. It was the site of an Iron Age Fort and the ramparts followed the contours of the hill. Before the Somerset Levels were drained, between 1770 and 1833, to reclaim the land from the ancient marshland, Brent Knoll was an island, known as the Isle (or Mount) of ‘Frogs’, a safe haven from the water and marshes… Look closely and you will discover the frogs!
